Privacy Policy

We Don't Ghost ("we", "us") is a job board at wedontghost.com, run as an independent project from Bengaluru, India. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who sees it, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, whether you are a recruiter or a candidate, and (for recruiters) your company name.
• No passwords: you sign in with LinkedIn, Google or GitHub. We never see or store a password.
• From the service you sign in with: your name, verified email address, profile photo, and that service's internal ID for your account. From LinkedIn we do not receive your connections, job history, messages or profile URL. From GitHub we read your public profile and your verified email addresses, not your code or repositories. We never post anything on your behalf.
• What you create here: job posts, applications and the notes you attach, and the messages you send when you invite, reject, accept, decline, offer or withdraw.
• Activity on applications: each step taken, when it was taken, and whether a response was made before its deadline. We use this to calculate response rates.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent personal data.

Analytics

We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand how the site is used and to fix problems. It records which pages you visit, what you click, page speed, and anonymised session recordings. To protect your privacy:

• All text on the page and everything you type is masked before it leaves your browser, so recordings and click data never contain your messages, application notes or other people's names.
• If you are signed in, you are identified to PostHog only by an internal number and whether you are a recruiter or a candidate, never by name or email.
• Analytics data is sent through our own domain and your IP address is not passed on to PostHog.
• No analytics cookies or local storage are used.
• If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, no analytics are collected at all.

Why we use it

• To run your account and log you in.
• To connect candidates and recruiters, send in-app notifications, and enforce response deadlines, including automatically closing steps that are not answered in time.
• To calculate and display response rates, which is the core purpose of the service.
• To prevent abuse, such as fake jobs or spam, and to keep the service secure.

We rely on your consent, given when you create an account, and on uses reasonably expected for a job board you chose to join.

Who can see what

• Anyone, including people not logged in: job posts, and for the recruiter who posted each one: name, company, photo, whether they signed in with LinkedIn, the month they joined, number of jobs posted, number of hires, and response statistics.
• Recruiters you apply to: your name, which services you signed in with (LinkedIn, Google or GitHub), your application note, your messages on that application, and your response statistics.
• Candidates who apply to your jobs: your name, company, messages on their application, and your response statistics.
• Never shown to other users: your email address.

Service providers

• Cloudflare hosts the website and stores our database. Data may be stored or processed in Cloudflare data centres inside or outside India.
• LinkedIn, Google and GitHub handle sign-in, depending on which you choose. Recruiters sign in with LinkedIn only.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces on this site, so your browser connects to Google, which can see your IP address.
• PostHog (EU cloud) provides the analytics described above.

Cookies

We use one login cookie to keep you signed in, valid for up to 30 days, and a short-lived cookie during sign-in to protect against forged requests. Both are strictly necessary. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Records of other users' responses stay intact, but your name is removed from them. We may keep limited records longer where the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a summary of your personal data, correct it, or delete it. You can withdraw consent by deleting your account, and you can nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Self-service deletion is not built yet, so email us and we will act within 30 days.

Email hello@wedontghost.com for any privacy question, request or complaint. We will respond within 7 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Age

This service is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and notify you in the app.
